Gun Fact 1: The Right to Arms is a Universal Human Right

The right to arms stems from the right to life – the right to survive. Humans are tool users, and a weapon or arm is simply a tool that can be used for offense or defense. Everyday objects can easily be used as effective weapons, and weapons can be fashioned and turned into even more effective weapons very easily. Weapons cannot be removed from society, since so many objects and materials can be used as weapons or made into very effective weapons.

Since the right to life is universal and fundamental, the right to protect it is the same. Since weapons are everywhere, the right to carry and use a weapon is also universal. Since attackers can easily conceal or pick up and carry weapons, or use everyday objects as weapons, everyone must have the right to carry weapons in order to be as prepared as possible to protect their right to life.  Even in the most secure prisons – extremely controlled environments – it is impossible to keep people from fashioning and using weapons 100% of the time. It is impossible all of the time to keep people from having and using weapons out in the world. Therefore, everyone must be able to have weapons to defend themselves from violent criminals, as well as other threats (tyrannical government, insurrection, foreign invasion, and more).
